Purpose:
To meet the needs of the profession at large and neurologic physical therapy specifically in building the foundational elements required in practice, education, and research to fully realize our professional identity as movement system experts and diagnosticians. These foundational elements may include strategies for examination including broadening the movement analysis of tasks for use across populations, additional descriptions of movement system diagnoses, an overarching framework for how movement system diagnoses fit together and within other categorizations used in practice including ICD-10, and implications for needs in electronic medical records to facilitate uptake in practice.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Promote the development and integration of movement system concepts as they relate to individuals with neurologic conditions in practice, education, and research.
- Collaborate with other Academies and APTA in development and integration of movement system concepts including examination strategies and diagnoses in practice, education, and research.
- Serve as a resource for APTA and its components.
- Disseminate the products of the committee through ANPT channels including the website and e-news, CSM and Annual Conference programming, and webinars and podcasts.
- Contribute to the body of knowledge related to the movement system as appropriate through publication of relevant papers in peer reviewed journals. These may include updates to previously published work, study and dissemination of reliability of movement analysis of tasks, and study and dissemination of consensus processes re: developed diagnoses.
- Collaborate with and oversee the work of movement system related knowledge translation work groups within ANPT.
- Collaborate with the ANPT Practice and Evidence-based Documents Committees to connect with movement system related work coming from APTA or other sources.
- Submit a committee report to the ANPT Board liaison at the required times.
