As providers of rehabilitation services, neurologic physical therapists work with individuals with congential or acquired neurologic disease, dysfunction, or trauma. The APTA and the Academy of Neurologic PT provide a variety of resources to assist clinicians in optimizing care for their clients, advocating for access to rehabilitation services, and communicating with individuals both within and outside of the physical therapy professionals.

The Academy of Neurologic PT is developing recommendations for the use of outcome measures with specific populations with neurological disorders. Academy EDGE (Evidence Database to Guide Effectiveness) task force members recently completed an extensive review and developed recommendations for the use of outcome measures with people with stroke. Another EDGE task force is beginning this process for outcome measures to use with people with Multiple Sclerosis. Click here to see the recommendations.
