Mobile Applications (apps)
These mobile application recommendation handouts aim to help a clinician explore the mobile apps that include assessment, outcome measures, and interventions based on ANPT clinical practice guidelines (CPG), and allow easy implementation of the CPGs in telerehabilitation for the neurologic population. All mobile apps were freely available in the Apple store as of May 2022. Please NOTE that the availability of these apps in the market is subject to change.
Steps for evaluating and designing the mobile applications list
- This document describes the process of searching and evaluating the quality of mobile apps by using the Mobile Application Rating Scale (MARS) and creating a visualization design. All apps were categorized into three groups: assessment and outcomes, intervention, and patient education.
Assessment and outcomes apps
- This document lists the mobile apps that include CPG recommended assessment and outcome measures and is primarily based on the Core Set of Outcome Measures CPG for Adults with Neurologic Conditions. Each app is introduced with MARS’s scores, followed by a short demonstration video to display the app’s functions.
- Comparison of assessment and outcomes apps: This document compares all searched assessment and outcomes apps to help a clinician recognize the different features between the apps in the same category.
Intervention apps
- This handout lists the mobile apps that can be used for the vestibular hypofunction CPG, locomotor CPG, and concussion CPG. Each app is introduced with MARS’s scores, followed by a short demonstration video to display the app’s functions.
- Comparison of intervention apps: Intervention apps are compared based on features, including free without in-app purchases, operation system, target population, easy to use, monitoring or tracking progress function, and downloading or sharing the result. This comparison table handout helps a clinician easily visualize the differences between each app.
Patient education applications
- This document lists apps that can be used for patient education.
- Comparison of patient education applications: This document compares the features of patient education apps.
