Journal of Neurologic Physical Therapy Names George D. Fulk Deputy Editor

Fulk, PT, PhD, FAPTA has been named the Deputy Editor of the Journal of Neurologic Physical Therapy (JNPT), the official, Medline indexed, quarterly publication of the Academy of Neurologic Physical Therapy (ANPT). He will hold this position for one year before assuming the role of Editor-in-Chief in January 2021 when the term of the current editor, Edelle [Edee] Field-Fote, PT, PhD, FAPTA is completed.

Fulk is the Department Chair of Physical Therapy Education at the College of Health Professions - Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY. He has served as an Associate Editor and Digital Media Editor for JNPT since 2010. “JNPT has played an important role throughout my career and has an important role to positively impact rehabilitation practice, education, research, patient care, and the physical therapy profession,” he said.

After stepping into the role of Editor-in-Chief in 2009, Field-Fote achieved JNPT’s first Journal Citations Reports Impact Factor in 2011.  Subsequently JNPT has twice ranked in the Top 10 in the Rehabilitation category, and currently has a 5-year Impact Factor of 3.244. Field-Fote is the Director of Spinal Cord Injury Research at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, GA, she currently serves as President of the Foundation for Physical Therapy Research, and as Chair of the NIH National Advisory Board on Medical Rehabilitation Research. With the selection of Fulk as her successor she said, “It has been wonderful to work with George over the past decade. He has embraced every opportunity to contribute and has shown extraordinary dedication to JNPT.  Through his creativity and commitment, he will surely take our journal to the next level.”

JNPT is the official journal of the Academy of Neurologic Physical Therapy (ANPT).
